Top Gear legends filming new show in the Algarve

Jeremy Clarkson and his former Top Gear co-hosts Richard Hammond and James May are in the Algarve this week filming for their new Amazon motoring show.
A picture of the trio at Portimão racetrack was posted on Clarkson’s Twitter account yesterday, with a caption reading: “With a skeleton crew, filming for Amazon Prime's new motoring programme has begun.” Hammond also shared the photo, saying “the band is back together and it feels brilliant”. The trio are pictured with three “supercars”: a Ferrari LaFerrari, a McLaren P1 and a Porsche 918 Spyder.
According to Portuguese motoring magazine Motor+, the ‘guys’ are comparing the cars with test runs at the autodrome. British graphic designer Don McGowan told Barlavento newspaper who he took photos of the test runs after a chance sighting of “people holding up boards at Faro airport on Sunday with McLaren logos on.” “I then saw Clarkson had posted a cryptic Tweet to suggest he would be filming the showdown of the McLaren P1, LaFerrai and Porsche 918 Spyder. I put two and two together and drove over to the Autodromo in Portimão and sat on the hillside for a few hours to get my shots of the cars,” McGowan revealed. For now, little more is known about the show. It could be called Gear Knobs, but this has not yet been confirmed, says the Telegraph.
The UK’s Telegraph has carried the story, reminding its readers that the Top Gear legends “left the BBC earlier this year and signed a ‘very, very, very expensive’ deal to make a car-themed programme” with Amazon Prime’s online streaming service. Clarkson – both loved and hated for his controversial statements – was sacked by the BBC earlier this year after an allegedly “unprovoked physical and verbal attack” on a member of Top Gear’s production staff. Hammond and May also left the show, refusing to return without Clarkson. Their new show, whatever its name is, is due to air in 2016.
