Athens : Extension of the Restart Incentive’s Scheme for Winter 2022/2023 season

Committed to substantially support our airline partners during this uncertain and volatile period

As it is widely acknowledged, Athens International Airport offers the most comprehensive incentives' scheme in the world, comprising 14 different elements, covering any possible type of route development from home-based airlines, LCCs or visiting carriers.

Athens incentives are reviewed regularly and in line  with prevailing market conditions;  as such, during the Pandemic, Athens introduced the Restart incentive as of July 1st 2021, offering discounts in Landing and Parking charges in order to support airlines in their effort to restore international capacity to Athens. Aiming at mitigating, at the extent possible, airlines‛ risk during the restart phase, the incentive is offered on a monthly basis in order to offer a substantial & immediate benefit to the airlines.

The recovery in traffic was strongly evident during the Summer Season 2022, however a number of factors continue to present risks and challenges in the global and local aviation market. Despite all these risks and challenges, Athens International Airport remains committed to substantially support our airline partners at the extent possible. As such, the Restart incentive is extended up to 31st of March 2023, offering discounts in Landing and Parking charges, as follows:

Specific Terms & Conditions

Period: November 1st 2022 to March 31st 2023

Aiming at mitigating, at the extent possible, airlines’ risk during the restart phase, a 50% discount on Landing & Parking charges is introduced. This discount will be valid for the number of flights operated above the threshold of 60% and up to a maximum of 80% in relation to the monthly number of flights achieved by each airline during the respective months of Summer 2019.

Calculation of discount is based on the actual invoiced amount for Landing & Parking charges, divided by the total operated number of flights per airline per month. Average Landing & Parking charge is then used to apply the discount for the eligible number of flights.

The “Restart” Incentive’s Scheme is be offered on a monthly basis and will be conditional to the airline’s prompt fulfilment of their financial obligations to Athens International Airport.

Wishing us all a productive and successful Winter Season 2022-2023
