Athens : Kuwait a NEW destination in Summer 2023

Athens will be connected to Kuwait with Scheduled PAX services provided by Kuwait Airways and Aegean Airlines

One  more new destination is planned to be connected  to Athens as of Summer 2023!

Kuwait was last served in Summer 2018 by Aegean, with ongoing discussions before the pandemic and just after for the reconnection of both cities.

As of June 2023, Kuwait will be served twice weekly with services offered by Kuwait Airways and Aegean, each operating one weekly frequency, with Aegean inaugurating services on the 12th of June, followed by Kuwait Airways on the 16th of June.

Kuwait Airways will be the 3rd New airline for Athens in 2023.

Kuwait was connected to Athens, year-round, up until September 2009 with services offered by the state owned at the time, Olympic Airlines. In Summer 2017, Aegean operated seasonal services and returned in Summer 2018.

With the new addition of Kuwait, Athens will be connected with 5 countries in the Gulf region, serving 8 destinations, including one more NEW destination in Saudi Arabia Dammam.

From a Press release, issued by Kuwait Airways on the 28th of January, it is noted that Athens was selected based on the passengers' choice of Athens as a highly attractive tourist destination, with diverse ancient heritage, as well as historical and cultural sites and vibrant every day life. The airline also noted that selecting Athens coincides with the plans established by the airline under the strategy adopted by the airline's management, to expand its network  around the world to new and sought-after markets, that meet the requirements of its valued customers, with Athens selected after systematic research of its feasibility, profitability and its impact, in addition to the popularity of the route.
