Athens network connectivity further enhanced with Aegean‘s new services to Chisinau and Dubai
Aegean Airlines is further enhancing its International network from its Athens home base
On the 3rd of November, Athens International Airport and Aegean Airlines inaugurated the service from ATH to KIV. For this Winter season the route is served double weekly, Day2 and Day5, with Aegean the sole operator.
In 2018, the ATH – KIV route achieved its TOP performance with 24 thousand round-trip passengers (non-stop). The route was last served, in October 2019 by WizzAir.
Athens International Airport, Aegean Airlines and H.E. the Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Athens participated at the inaugural celebration, including traditional singers and dancers that instilled the Moldovan spirit of celebration to all the passengers of the first flight.
On the 11th of November, Athens International Airport and Aegean Airlines inaugurated the service from ATH to DXB. For this Winter season the route is served 6 times weekly, with Aegean supplementing Emirates services on the route. This brand new service from Aegean will further enhance the strong demand for travel between Dubai and Athens and it will add on the code-share options between both airlines. As already announced, this service will be upgraded to daily in Summer 2024, supplementing Emirates double daily services between Athens and Dubai.
On the inaugural celebration, Athens International Airport launched the “certified 1st passenger” initiative by offering to all departing passengers on this first flight, a Certificate of Participation at the Inaugural Flight!!! This was accepted with great joy by the passengers and it will now be offered to the passengers of all inaugural flights from Athens, offering a memorable and emotional touch to the “1st” passengers. Moving forward, Athens International Airport will offer a special award to passenger(s) that will have collected 3 or more certificates within a calendar year, regardless of the operating airline.
