Norse Atlantic Airways to operate 5 weekly frequencies between New York (JFK) and Athens in Summer 2024

Norse Atlantic Airways, on the 22nd of December, announced its latest new route, connecting New York (JFK) to Athens. Norse, will be Athens newest airline in 2024 adding its very first service from Athens.

The airline made the decision to add Athens in its network, due to the surging demand among American travellers seeking to explore the enchanting landscapes and cultural treasures of Greece.

The Athens to New York (JFK) route promises to fulfill this demand, providing a gateway for travellers to experience the rich history, picturesque islands, and warm hospitality that Greece is renowned for. Athens International Airport, offering unparalleled connectivity and world-class facilities, ensures a smooth and enjoyable journey for passengers aiming at exploring Athens, as well as those  transiting between the United States and across the Greek islands.

CEO and Founder of Norse Atlantic Airways, Mr Bjorn Tore Larsen, stated “We are thrilled to announce the commencement of ticket sales for our Athens to New York JFK route. This launch underscores our commitment to meeting the evolving travel needs of our passengers. We believe this route will not only cater to the demand for travel to Greece but will also create opportunities for cultural exchange and business collaborations between these two vibrant destinations”.

Athens International Airport Director, Communications & Marketing, Mrs Ioanna Papadopoulou, said “We are very excited with Norse Atlantic Airways’ announcement for the launch of their Summer 2024 direct operations on the Athens – New York / JFK route! This is a truly spectacular development for our airport, our city and our country, enhancing connectivity and offering a wide range of traveling options to the wider public! US has traditionally been the most dynamically developing market for Athens and especially in 2023, passenger numbers between ATH and all US destinations have been soaring, demonstrating double digit increases vs the pre-pandemic era, with New York topping the list. We are absolutely certain that the route will be a tremendous success, as passengers will enjoy the excellent product offered by Norse Atlantic Airways. We wish to our new airline—partner safe and full flights and we are committed to working closely together in order to substantially contribute to and enhance the successful performance of the route”.

Norse will deploy a B787 Dreamliner equipment to serve this route, operating out of Athens on days 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7. The inaugural flight will start from Athens on the 30th of May 2024, departing at 07:30 Local arriving at New York (JFK) at 11:20 Local.

This new service will supplement Emirates year-round services to New York (EWR), almost year-round services with Delta Airlines to New York (JFK) and the seasonal services of American Airlines to New York (JFK) and United Airlines to New York (EWR).

With this new addition, Athens will be connected 40 times weekly to New York city.

Thank you Norse for your vote of trust in the Athens market!

Wish you safe and full flights!
