easyJet adding 5 new routes from Athens in Summer 2024

The airline is increasing its network offering to/ from Athens to 15 destinations in S’24 compared to 10 in S’23

easyJet is a longstanding partner for Athens, serving Athens International  Airport since  its opening. In Summer 2023 easyJet offered services to Bristol, Basel, Edinburgh, Geneva, London (LGW), Lisbon (New service in 2023), Manchester, Milan, Naples and Paris. Compared to 2019, the airline increased its offered capacity by 6.1% and by 7.7% vs. 2022, almost reaching 700 thousand round-trip seats.

The spectacular increase in traffic at Athens International Airport (+10.2% vs. 19) in 2023 and the enhanced attractiveness of the city and the country overall, offers increased opportunities for further development in our market. In reply to the increase in demand, easyJet will add 5 new services from Athens in Summer 2024, making this the largest increase in network coverage for the airline since 2002.

2024 marks the year when easyJet is heavily investing in the Athens market with the biggest increase in network coverage +5 destinations, adding services to Lyon, Bordeaux, Venice, Malaga and Palma de Mallorca.

  • Lyon, starting on the 31st of March, offering 3 weekly frequencies (Day 2, 4, & 7) dropping to 2/7 July & August, supplementing Aegean, Transavia France and Volotea services on the route
  • Bordeaux, starting on the 4th of April, offering 2 weekly frequencies (Day 4 & 7), supplementing Aegean and Volotea services on the route
  • Venice, starting on the 22nd of April, offering 2 weekly frequencies (Day 1 & 4), supplementing Aegean and Volotea services on the route
  • Malaga, starting on the 1st of June, offering 2 weekly frequencies (Day 2 & 6), supplementing Aegean services on the route
  • Palma de Mallorca, starting on the 27th of June, offering 2 weekly frequencies (Day 4 & 7), supplementing Aegean services on the route

In addition to the new routes, easyJet will offer 23 additional weekly frequencies from Athens in Summer 2024 vs. S’23. The 5 new routes will add 12 weekly frequencies, while the remaining 11 additional frequencies are generated from incremental growth, in the existing network.
