Avinor Oslo Airport will add Visby to its destination map this summer.

Just weeks before the official opening of its new state-of-the-art terminal extension, Avinor Oslo Airport has announced further development on its route network with the addition of SAS’ new link to Visby in Sweden. The full-service carrier will be operating a twice-weekly seasonal service on the airport pair from 26 June, utilising its CRJ 900s on the 503-kilometre sector.

“We’re just finalising our tremendous makeover at Oslo, meaning more visitors and more business, but at the same time we must ensure that we continue to enhance our route map. Gotland is a popular summer destination for Norwegian travellers so we’re very happy that SAS has chosen to cater for the demand during the peak season,” says Jasper Spruit, VP Traffic Development, Avinor.

Adding 2,640 seasonal seats to Oslo’s passenger traffic, and with no direct competition on the operation, SAS’ new link to Visby will become the third Swedish destination served non-stop from Oslo, joining existing links to Stockholm Arlanda and Gothenburg.

As Scandinavia’s largest airline confirms its 53rd link from Norway’s international hub, the service to Visby strengthens Sweden’s position as the fifth largest country market served from Oslo.
