Icelandair plans Kansas City launch in May 2018

Icelandair on Tuesday (09JAN18) announced additional service expansion to the US, becoming the first European carrier serving Kansas City. From 25MAY18 to 01OCT18, Boeing 757 aircraft will operate Reykjavik Keflavik – Kansas City route 3 times a week. Reservation for this first-ever Trans-Atlantic service from Kansas City is now available.

On this historic route announcement, Justin Meyer, Manager of Air Service Development, Kansas City Aviation Department, noted “Routes events (World, Americas, and Europe) provided efficient opportunities for Kansas City to meet with Icelandair to discuss how MCI-KEF would fit into their network strategy. This negotiation took place over several years. Today marks a historic announcement for Kansas City as it enhances its profile in the international marketplace.”
