Qantas Airways on Wednesday (24JUL19) opened reservation for its planned new US service from Brisbane, after securing approval from the US Department of Transportation for its joint venture partnership with American Airlines last week. In the first-half of 2020, Qantas will operate following service with Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, subject to Government Approval.

Based on OAG schedules, this route is a service resumption as Qantas previously served Brisbane – Honolulu – San Francisco routing as QF003/004 with Boeing 747 from Feb 1982 to May 1984 (April/May 1984 routing was Brisbane – Cairns – Honolulu – San Francisco as QF025/026), as well as Apr – Oct 1986. 2-stop service between Brisbane and San Francisco was scheduled in April 1991. Also, the airline’s also served one-way Vancouver – San Francisco – Honolulu – Sydney – Brisbane from December 1980 to January 1981.
