Our host has organised a range of incredible complimentary tours for Routes Europe delegates, offering the chance to explore Bergen and the surrounding region. Each tour will accommodate a limited number of guests, therefore early booking is recommended to secure your place.
Medieval walk through Bryggen
The walk passes through the oldest part of Bergen, composed of the historic streets near Bryggen Harbour, which is part of the UNESCO World Heritage List. The tour also includes some of the city’s most important attractions: Bergenhus Fortress, the Hanseatic Quarter (Bryggen), Mariakirken (St. Mary´s Church), and more.
Departure is at 18:00 from Bryggens Museum. The trip will take about an hour. A maximum of 20 participants will be able to attend. Wear warm clothing and walking shoes for your comfort and safety!
Segway exploration of Bergen
“Bergen on a Segway” is a unique, emission-free experience that takes you through Bergen’s most charming historic alleys. The tour includes Bergenhus Fortress and its beautiful park, the UNESCO World Heritage site, Bryggen, the lively Fish Market, the scenic Nordnes Park, and the classic theatre The National Stage, Bergen.
Tour dates are May 20, 20:00 – 22:00 and May 21, 10:00 – 12:00. The group meets at Bontelabo 2, 5003 Bergen. Wear warm clothing and walking shoes for your comfort and safety! The tour starts with a basic Segway instruction.
Fløyen funicular
Easily accessible from the city centre, Mount Fløyen is a must see for all visitors. The steep Fløyen funicular will bring you to the top in just six minutes, ascending 320 metres along an 850-meter railway. Fløyen is one of Bergen’s most famous attractions and the funicular ride is a thrilling experience on its own. You might also enjoy a hike up or down Mount Fløyen along the charming hiking trail. The 40-minute hike is highly recommended as an alternative route back to the city centre.
The tour departs daily every 15 minutes from 07:30- 23:00. There are two tour options: 20 minutes or two hours, it’s your choice. We recommend warm clothing and walking shoes for your comfort.

Østerfjord cruise
Experience fjords and mountains on the 3-hour cruise to Østerfjord and the impressive Mostraumen. Feast your eyes on deep fjords, steep mountains, mighty waterfalls, and powerful currents. The cruise sets off from Zachariasbryggen, adjacent to Bergen’s charming Fish Market. As we leave Bergen you will have excellent views of the famous Bryggen, Bergen's old town and harbour.
Departure times are May 16, 14:00 – 17:00 (40 max.), May 21, 10:00 – 13:00 (20 max.), May 21, 14:00 – 17:00 (30 max.). The tour takes approximately 3 hours. Meeting point is Zachariasbryggen quay by the Fish Market, return to the same place. We recommend warm clothing and walking shoes for your comfort. Umbrellas and rain ponchos are available. Snacks and beverages may be purchased during the cruise.
Nordic arts and culture
Lined up next to the main venue, Grieghallen, you will find the KODE art museums. KODE offers a unique combination of art museums and composer homes, contemporary art, historical objects, concerts, and parks. For a moment of inspiration or peace and quiet, make a stop at one or all, of the four KODE buildings.
Opening hours: Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday: 11:00–16:00. Thursday: KODE 1 and 4: 11:00–16:00 KODE 2 and 3: 11:00–20:00. Saturday and Sunday: 11:00–17:00. Monday: closed.
Early morning city jogging
Live like the locals and join Norwegian daily regime of activities outside before or after work.
Morning activity is the best way to start a busy day. Come clear your mind and join us for a jog through Bergen City most beautiful neighborhoods. You are heartily welcome!
Departure May 18 & May 20 at 07:00-07:45 from Hotel Norge. Wear running/walking shoes.
Fløyen panorama hike
This 2.5-3 hour easy/medium hike is for those who appreciate magnificent views. An effortless gondola ride up Mount Ulriken offers panoramic views of Bergen, the islands, and the mountain range. This is a classic Norwegian outdoor experience!
Departures are May 16, 15:00 – 19:00 and May 20, 09:00 – 12:00. The trip takes approximately 2,5-3 hours. Meeting point is Fløibanen. Wear warm clothing and walking/hiking shoes for your comfort. Snacks will be served. Note that the number of participants is limited to 10 people.
