Dr Chikage Miyoshi

Lecturer, Centre for Air Transport Management, Cranfield University

Dr Chikage Miyoshi features a unique background as an academic member equipped with an extensive industry track record. After completing her PhD at Cranfield University about air transport liberalisation in Japan, Dr Miyoshi stayed on to become a lecturer, reading ‘Air transport market analysis and demand forecasting’ as well as ‘Cost and Benefit analysis’.  Prior to Cranfield University, she worked in various roles for a number of airlines including All Nippon Airways and Lufthansa, while she also formed part of the core start-up team of Skymark Airlines.

In addition, she has extensive consulting experience in the areas of air transport market analysis, route selection, demand forecasting for airports, due diligence for airport privatisation, as well as feasibility studies and business plans for start-up airlines.

Dr Miyoshi‘s main research interests span the fields of demand forecasting, network connectivity, passenger profiling, travel mode choice modelling, cost benefit analysis, and aviation and the environment. Chikage holds a BA from Osaka University, an MBA from Waseda University and a PhD from Cranfield University.

Sanjay Jayanth

Head of Business Development Asia, ASM & Routes

Sanjay Jayanth is the Head of Business Development, Asia for Routes and ASM, part of the transport and technology division of UBM. Sanjay leads the Sales and Business development, Routes and ASM in Asia, developing and growing the portfolio across the Asia-Pacific region.

Sanjay has 17 years of world-wide experience in the aviation industry in marketing strategy, competitive analysis, operations, branding and product development with KLM, British Airways, Delta Air Lines, Northwest Airlines and most recently GMR Group. He has held key positions including Airline Marketing and Route Development for Delhi International Airport as well as positions at GMR Male International Airport in the Maldives and GMR Megawide Cebu Airport Corporation in the Philippines.

Alan Polivnick

Partner, Watson, Farley & Williams

Alan is a partner in the International Litigation Group of Watson Farley & Williams and focuses on cross-border arbitration and dispute resolution, particularly in the aviation, shipping and insurance and reinsurance sectors. Alan regularly advises MNCs, international airlines, insurers and reinsurers and international organisations on their operations in Thailand including contract negotiations, commercial and coverage disputes, employment law and regulatory issues. 

In addition to advising and representing airlines and their insurers in litigation, Alan’s aviation practice focuses on commercial and regulatory aspects of airline operations and he regularly advises Thai and international full service and LCC operators.

Alan is recognized as a ‘Leading Individual’ in transport by Legal 500 Asia Pacific 2013 - 2016.  Finance Monthly Law Awards has honoured Alan and his team with their ‘Aviation Law Firm of the Year’ award for 2015 and 2016, as well as recognizing Alan as ‘Aviation Lawyer of the Year’ in 2016. He is listed in Who’s Who Legal 2016 as a leading lawyer in aviation. Alan is qualified to practise in England and Wales and Australia.

Jonathan Hutt

Social Marketing Director, Spring Airlines

Jonathan joined Spring Airlines in 2010 helping the company develop its strategic roadmap for international expansion; including the establishment of its Japanese subsidiary, the first such venture by a privately-owned Chinese airline. Since 2012, he has been involved in the development and expansion of Spring’s New Media Center; an initiative that works across the Spring Group to create new omni-channel promotional and branding activities as well as generate new revenue streams from social marketing platforms both in China and across the Asia region.

Jonathan has over twenty years marketing experience in the Greater China region and during this time has worked with a number of international brands on their market entry and branding strategies, market forecasting and product development, including Aston Martin, Harley Davidson, General Motors, Dunhill and LVMH.

Jonathan earned his Doctor of Philosophy in Chinese history from the Australian National University and if fluent in both spoken and written Chinese, both classical and modern.

Rajeev Jain

CEO, Mumbai International Airport Pvt.

Mr. R K Jain has experience at senior level in Infrastructure sector for more than 28 years. At present, he is the Chief Executive Officer of Mumbai International Airport Pvt. Ltd., operating and developing CSI Airport, Mumbai. He has been associated with CSIA for last five years.

Mr. R K Jain is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and also fellow member of various other professional institutes in India and abroad.

Sanjiv Kapoor

Chief Strategy and Commercial Officer, Vistara

Sanjiv joined Vistara, the joint venture of Tata and Singapore Airlines, as its Chief Strategy and Commercial Officer in March 2016. Prior to joining Vistara, Sanjiv led SpiceJet through its unprecedented recovery and turnaround as its COO and de facto CEO from November 2013 until October 2015.

Sanjiv has over 18 years of experience in the airline industry, having worked with airlines in Asia, Europe, and the US as a part of management, as a management consultant, and  as an investment advisor in the aviation space. Sanjiv started his airline career with Northwest Airlines in the USA in 1996, where he worked in finance, planning, procurement, and operations.

In 2004 Sanjiv joined Bain and Company, the leading strategy consulting firm, as a leader in their airline practice, working with global airline clients on projects ranging from strategy and turnaround to alliances, network planning and revenue enhancement, procurement, post-merger integration and customer experience transformation.

Sanjiv’s previous employers include Temasek Holdings of Singapore (the owners of Singapore Airlines), and BCG (the Boston Consulting Group). 

A native of Kolkata where he did his schooling at La Martiniere, Sanjiv received his MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and his BA in Computer Science from Dartmouth College, USA.

He has negotiated with airlines from around the globe and is a well-known figure in the aviation industry. Aidan has extensive experience in forecasting, budget planning and management reporting.

Wilco Sweijen

Director Aviation Marketing, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol

Wilco Sweijen is Director Aviation Marketing at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and is responsible for route development between Amsterdam and Asia, Middle East, Africa and South America.

Wilco has held various positions in nearly his 30 years at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. He started his career within Schiphol as Assistant to the Chief Commercial Director, followed by Manager Commercial Development where he was responsible for the doubling of the retail space at the airport and the planning of Schiphol Plaza, the landside shopping facility. His next position was as Marketing & Strategy Manager where he was heavily involved in the international activities of Schiphol Group. During this period Schiphol Group took a stake in Vienna International Airport, JFK T4 in New York and Brisbane Airport. Wilco has a vast experience in the airport and aviation industry.
