What are the Routes Marketing Awards?
The Routes Marketing Awards were created in 1997 to recognise excellence in airport marketing. They provide the aviation community with the chance to have their say as to which airport they think provides the best overall marketing services to them. In 2017, the Individual Award was launched to recognise those within the industry whom have made significant developments in route development, and can be voted for by airlines, airports, tourism authorities and suppliers.
When do the World Routes Marketing Awards take place?
The World Routes Marketing Awards Ceremony will take place during the Networking Evening on Monday 25th September at World Routes in Barcelona
What is the voting process?
The aviation network planning community place their votes on routesonline.com. The airlines are asked to mark their airports or destinations of choice (5 of each) in order of preference and these are then automatically scored by priority within our online system. The Individual Award is nominated by all persons in the industry via the online form.
What should I consider when voting?
Airlines and Aviation experts should consider the individual, airports or destinations whose marketing efforts, over the last 12 months have made a real impact on their future network development plans. This may include such things as; their market research activities; their marketing and communications activity, their business case presentations for new market opportunities; their joint communication campaigns with third parties and innovative use of technologies or techniques to support their airline by any airport.
What are the voting criteria?
It is a combination of airports that are voted for by the airline community on our website and in the event of a tie, the airports that have achieved the highest growth in seat capacity in the last 12 months.
What are the categories in the World Routes Marketing Awards?
There are six awards: The Individual Award for Contribution to Route Development, Destination and four airport awards. Once voting is closed, airports are split into size category from under 4m passengers to airports larger than 50 million passengers in addition to the destination category.
Who is automatically shortlisted for the World Routes Marketing Awards?
All overall winners from the Regional Routes Marketing Awards will be automatically shortlisted for the World Routes Marketing Awards in Barcelona.
What is the new award for 2017, and how do I nominate someone?
The Individual Award for Outstanding Contribution to Route Development has been introduced to our line up, and is open to airlines, airports, tourism authorities and other stakeholders in the aviation industry.
From 19 June, persons may nominate a person or colleague via the form on the Routes website. Shortlisted individuals will, after the closing date of 28 July, be asked to submit entries.
How will the new award be judged?
Unlike our other awards, the Individual Award will be judged by a panel of executives from the aviation industry and not just by the airline judges.
