Gad Wavomba

Senior Management Consultant, Sabre

Gad is a Senior Management Consultant within Sabre’s airline consultancy group, providing business consulting services such as Revenue Management, Network Planning, Pricing and Revenue Integrity for airline clients worldwide. He provides advisory to C-level global airline leadership teams while functioning as a liaison with clients for medium to large projects. Gad has worked with global carriers in developing strategies to maximize revenue and apply industry best practices across commercial groups.

His areas of expertise revolve around Revenue Management, Revenue Management O&D transition, Organization Structure & Processes, Commercial Management, SPA/Partnerships/Codeshare, Network Planning, and KPIs/Reporting. A certified multi-engine private pilot, Gad has a MBA from Aston Business School in Birmingham, United Kingdom and an undergraduate Airline Business degree from Embry- Riddle Aeronautical University in Florida, United States. Prior to joining consulting, Gad held positions at Southwest Airlines, America’s largest domestic airline, in Network Planning and Revenue Management as well as Network Planning experience at Continental Airlines and Arik Air in Nigeria.

Airam Díaz

Commercial Director, Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife

Airam Díaz is the Commercial Director of the Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife which manages five cruise ports.

In 2011, he joined the Port Authority after his position as Commercial Executive of Grimaldi Group and other companies related to the maritime and logistic business.

He has a master degree in Law and Maritime Business by the Universitat Politécnica de Catalunya and a Bachelor of Science, International Trade and Marketing by the University of Wales, Seatrade Cruise Masterclass…

His wide range of responsibilities in the Port  Authority are related to different maritime business areas such as cruises, bunker services, container terminals, marinas, offshore and oil platforms, logistic services…  

He is an active member of the IAPH, ESPO and is the member of the MedCruise Board of Directors responsible for Projects & Studies, besides his work in the Cruises Atlantic Islands association to promote the Canary, Cape Verde and Madeira Islands area as a cruise destination. Actually, he is really involved in the Tenerife New Cruise Terminal construction that will be ready in September 2016 to increase the cruise ships deployment in the islands and thence, the Tenerife´s air connectivity.

Pedro Machado

Business Expansion Coordinator, Department of External Trade of the Chamber of Commerce of Santa Cruz de Tenerife

Mr. Pedro Machado graduated in Economics and Management from the University of La Laguna (Santa Cruz de Tenerife – Islas Canarias).

In addition, Mr. Machado has attended different classes of Statistical Science and Law. In 1998, he started his professional career at the “Turismo of Tenerife”. Two years later, he joined the economic and financial section of the newspaper called “La Gaceta de Canarias”. In 2002, Mr. Machado started working at “Diario de Avisos”, the most important newspaper of the canarian press. In these years, he has won several journalism awards, among which is the distinction awarded by “Fundación AENA (Aeropuertos Españoles y Navegación Aérea)” for his works on the air navigation and handling, presented by the Spanish Minister for Public Works, Magdalena Álvarez. In 2007, Mr. Machado joined the Department of External Trade of the Chamber of Commerce of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Recently, in 2013, was appointed Business Expansion Coordinator of the same Chamber.

Gustavo González de Vega

Delegate of the Ministry of Finance and Public Administration, Spanish government for the Tenerife Free Zone

Gustavo González de Vega is Delegate of the Ministry of Finance and Public Administration of the Spanish government for the Free Zone of Tenerife, where he chairs the Executive Committee and is vice president of the Consortium.

Previously, he served as General Coordinator of Economy and Finance of the City of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, where he was also Director General of Haciencia. He also served as Technical Coordinator of European Affairs for the Council of Tenerife.

He holds a Law degree in Law by the University of La Laguna, with studies at the University of Studies of Turin, Italy.

Beatriz Barrera Vera

President, Canary Islands Special Zone (ZEC)

Beatriz Barrera was born in Santa Cruz de Tenerife in 1963. She holds a Law degree by the Universidad de La Laguna and a EU Law degree by the Europe College (Bruges, Belgium). She has an official position as Senior Government Administrator (scale of General Administrators in the Autonomous Region of the Canary Islands).

Previous to her appointment as President of the Canary Islands Special Zone (ZEC), Beatriz Barrera was Chief Service Officer and Internal Auditor at the Aid Paying Agency linked to European Funds and she was responsible for the Information Centre at the EU Commission "Europe Direct".

During all these years she had different responsibility positions in several Public Departments, highlighting as Counsellor of  Town Council of Tenerife (2011-2012); General Director of Rural Development in the Government of the Canary Islands (2007) and, previously, she was a member of the Board at the Administration and Employment Institute of the Canary Islands (1993-1995).

Vicente Dorta Antequera

CEO, Tenerife Tourism Corporation & Tenerife Government representative of WhyTenerife?

He became the Chief Executive Officer of Tenerife Tourism Corporation in March 2016. He was the Director General of the Chamber of Commerce of the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife for the past 13 years, where he implemented projects such as the network of business incubators, the Canary Islands Factory of Tourism Innovation and programmes to support the internationalization and competitiveness of the provincial business community. Previously he worked at the Commercial Office of the Spanish Embassy in South Africa and the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation (AECI). He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the University of La Laguna, a Master in International Business from the University of Surrey (England), and has completed the Management and Business Management Programme at ESADE Business School. In addition, he is fluent in French and English languages.
