The Ministry of Tourism El Salvador

The Ministry of Tourism (MITUR) was set up in 2014 with a clear mission to promote and position El Salvador domestically and internationally as a tourist destination that is sustainable, attractive and competitive.

The Ministry of Tourism plays an important role in the GDP of El Salvador taking into account that last year the total annual gross domestic product accounts for 3.2% due to the capture of $771.55 million in tourist revenue. To this date the current minister is José Napoleón Duarte Durán, who has been heading this institution since 2009.

Corsatur

The Salvadoran Tourism Corporation is an autonomous institution of law also known as (CORSATUR). CORSATUR’s objective is to develop the tourism sector through the promoting of El Salvador’s key tourist attractions abroad. It also controls the national registration of tourism businesses and additional activities such as registering of new upcoming businesses in the tourist sector.

CORSATUR also co-ordinates programs that identify, classify, rate and certify new tourist business with the collaboration of agencies and specialised touristic units. In addition, CORSATUR also takes statistical census to update any data concerning the influence of tourism activities at a national level, thereby creating annual catalogues informing on the national tourism activities.

Bogota - El Dorado International Airport

El Dorado International Airport is located in Bogotá, Colombia’s capital. With 25 million passengers in 2013 El Dorado ranks third in passenger traffic in Latin-American, behind Sao Paulo Guarulhos and México City. It is also the busiest cargo airport in Latin-American with an annual tonnage of 610 thousand tonnes. The Airport has two 3.8 kms runways and is a Cat 10 fire Airport, and ICAO reference Aerodrome 4E.

Bogotá is located in a privileged geographical spot, that makes El Dorado a great strategic location in the South America region and across the Latin America Market.

As part of its strategy in 2014 and 2015, El Dorado has established a development plan for new routes and new airlines based on an attractive incentive program and for the first time is offering this to the airlines interested in developing new routes already established.

Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO)

The Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO), with headquarters in Barbados and offices in New York and London, is the Caribbean’s tourism development agency comprising membership of over 30 countries and territories including Dutch, English, French and Spanish, as well as a myriad of private sector allied members. The CTO’s vision is to position the Caribbean as the most desirable, year round, warm weather destination, and its purpose is Leading Sustainable Tourism - One Sea, One Voice, One Caribbean. Among the benefits to its members the Organization provides specialised support and technical assistance in sustainable tourism development, marketing, communications, advocacy, human resource development, and research and information technology. In addition the CTO, in partnership with the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association, jointly and equally owns the Caribbean Tourism Development Company, a marketing and business development entity dedicated to promoting the Caribbean brand worldwide.

Comisión Ejecutiva Portuaria Autónoma - CEPA

The Executive Autonomous Port Commission (CEPA) is a public agency in charge of developing and managing seaports, railways, and airports infrastructure and operations in El Salvador; in addition, the institution provides aerial navigation services, and the development of logistics – industrial zones adjacent to the ports and airports.

Under the present administration, the overall strategy is based on a broad institutional transformation, emphasising: the modernisation of El Salvador International Airport, the concession of Port of La Union Centroamericana, the renovation of Port of Acajutla, and the promotion of a new national railway system. CEPA has also embarked recently on a promotion strategy to attract industrial partners, private investment and advanced logistic service providers on the areas adjacent to CEPA’s ports and airports.

CEPA is aiming at new challenges and commitments that seek to strengthen national and regional connectivity; contributing should be in turning El Salvador into a regional platform of value added logistic services.

Costa Rica Tourist Board

Official governmental office in charge of the promotion of Costa Rica as a tourist destination. Toluca International Airport

The Toluca International Airport (AIT) is the newest and best gateway to the Mexican Capital, serving the State of Mexico and the central region of the country.
