About the Host

Phillipine DOT The Philippine Department of Tourism (DOT) prides itself on launching the most inclusive international and domestic tourism campaign in the Philippine's history. By developing widespread brand ownership, the campaign successfully turned the 97 million Filipinos into active tourism ambassadors thereby building renewed interest in the country’s tourism industry. The campaign continues to generate support from both the public and private sector as evidenced by the positive response from travel trade partners here and abroad, including an overwhelming amount of partnership requests to incorporate the “MORE FUN” brand in promotional materials, awards, and international recognitions.

The campaign resulted in a significant growth in foreign tourist arrivals. A total of 4.3 million international tourists visited the Philippines in 2012, marking the first time in the country’s tourism history to surpass the 4 million visitor arrival mark. These foreign arrivals translated to a total of USD 3.82 billion in visitor receipts, growing by 27.5% from 2011. Sustaining growth records, the year 2013 registered 4.7 million foreign visitor arrivals, a 9.56% increase from the previous year. Total revenue gained from inbound visitors for the year was up by 15.1% and is estimated to be at US$4.40 billion. Average daily expenditure of inbound tourists also increased by 8.7% to US$101.12.
